The M5Stack LLM-8850 Kit AI Accelerator is a sophisticated AI accelerator kit tailored for edge AI and embedded computing applications. It comprises the LLM-8850 Card AI accelerator and the LLM-8850 PiHat adapter board. The LLM-8850 Card, built on the Axera AX8850 SoC, features an M.2 M-Key 2242 form factor, offering up to 24 TOPS @ INT8 of computational power in a compact design. This card is adept at accelerating multimodal large-model inference and video analytics tasks. It incorporates an active cooling system with a micro blower fan and a CNC aluminum fin heatsink, which is intelligently controlled by an onboard EC to maintain stable low-temperature operation, even under prolonged full load or in enclosed environments, thereby preventing thermal throttling.

The LLM-8850 PiHat adapter board enhances connectivity by providing a 2.54-40P bus and a USB Type-C PD power input. It connects to the Raspberry Pi 5 through a PCIe expansion FPC adapter, facilitating the integration of high-performance AI acceleration on the Raspberry Pi platform. This enables the development of compact and efficient edge intelligence systems. The kit supports secure boot and encryption with a hardware security module, ensuring data protection. Additionally, it offers native AXCL support for seamless model deployment across various AI frameworks and supports simultaneous H.264/H.265 encoding and decoding.
